Position: Assistant Professor in Special Education

Responsibilities
This assistant professor will teach courses in the Special Education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction participating primarily in the new master’s concentration and corresponding certificate program of autism/applied behavior analysis (ABA). Responsibilities also include teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses, publishing research, participating in personnel preparation grant activities, advising students, participating in comprehensive exam evaluations, and providing service to the program, department, and the profession.
 
Qualifications
Required:

  • Earned doctorate (completed by September 1, 2010) in Special Education or a related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Evidence of graduate level course work and professional experience in applied behavior analysis.
  • Professional experience with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
  • Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity in the areas of ASD and/or developmental disabilities, and ABA.
 
Preferred:
  • Special education teaching certification.
  • Teaching experience with special education students in a school setting for at least one (1) year.
  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis or evidence of work toward BCBA certification requirements.
  • Experience training individuals in educational practices founded in ABA.
  • Experience training teachers to work with individuals with ASD.
  • Experience with university teaching, and/or field supervision.
